The Aerie Is One of the Most Expensive Mattresses in the World. Is It Worth It?

There’s no way around it. The Foreverbed Aerie is an expensive mattress at $40k in the largest and most dressed out size.

In fact, it sits in a category where most people look at the price and immediately ask the same question:

What could possibly make a mattress worth that much?

It’s a fair question.

The Aerie was never designed to be the mattress for everyone. It was designed to answer a different question: What happens when you stop building to a price point and simply try to build the best mattress you can?

That starts with the materials.

The Aerie uses premium components including alpaca fleece, graphite Talalay latex, Serene foam, nano coils, Belgian damask fabric, and a zoned nested pocketed coil system. It is built with the kind of materials that are rarely found together in one mattress because, quite frankly, they are expensive.

But expensive materials alone don’t make a great mattress.

The bigger difference is how those materials work together.

A mattress needs to do several things at once. It has to relieve pressure without letting you sink too far. It has to support your body without feeling hard. It needs to breathe, respond quickly when you move, hold its shape, and still feel comfortable years down the road.

That balance is incredibly difficult to get right.

It’s also why we don’t believe someone should choose a mattress simply because it is the softest, firmest, thickest, or most expensive option in the room.

Your body, sleeping position, pressure points, and comfort preferences matter. The Aerie may be the best mattress we know how to build, but that doesn’t automatically mean it is the best mattress for you.

And that brings us back to the original question.

Is the Aerie worth it?

For someone who simply wants a comfortable mattress, probably not. There are excellent mattresses available for considerably less money.

But for someone looking for exceptional materials, handcrafted construction, sophisticated pressure relief and support, and a mattress built without the usual compromises required to hit a mass-market price point, the answer can absolutely be yes.

Luxury isn’t about making something expensive for the sake of being expensive.

At its best, luxury is what happens when you remove the compromises.

That’s what we set out to do with the Aerie.
